The Oval in Hereford has been nominated for a Neighbourhood Transformation Award.
Neighbourhood Transformation Award (The Oval Hereford)
The Oval was a major multi-million-pound programme of improvement and regeneration work across Kilvert Road, Broxash Drive, Belmont Road and Beattie Avenue. It was the largest and most ambitious construction project ever undertaken by Herefordshire Housing. It included; demolition, new build and refurbishment. This project worked towards transforming the area with the goal of creating a more sustainable community.
The other nominations include; Best Older People's Landlord and Innovative Landlord of the year as part of the SUSTAIN consortium within Shropshire.
Best Older People's Landlord
For the Best Older People's Landlord award, Connexus have been shortlisted for Independent Living schemes across Herefordshire and Shropshire. This recognises the growing demand for supporting the older people and how the group adapted to offer support, care and accommodation. Connexus help customers to enjoy their home environment for as long as possible, promote individual choice and give control over decisions, whilst still offering reassurance about safety and security. This work included working with Herefordshire Council to ensure that housing demand and support is identified when needed.
Innovative Landlord of the year
For the Innovative Landlord of the year award, the submission and short-listing sees Connexus as part of the SUSTAIN consortium. The consortium is a group of housing and service providers who come together to provide Shropshire with the first holistic, affordable housing support system in the UK. Its members include the two of the largest landlords within Shropshire: Connexus, Housing Plus and STAR Housing who are an Arm’s Length Management Organisation (ALMO); alongside existing Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise Partners.
