The first residents can now move into the affordable housing development, named after local legend John ‘Brummie’ Stokes.

The Oval Development represents a major multi-million pound programme of improvement and regeneration across an area that Includes Kilvert Road, Broxash Drive, Belmont Road and Beattie Avenue in Hereford. 

Brummie Stokes Court

The scheme will comprise of one and two-bedroom apartments, all 35 flats will be affordable rent. There will be a total of 26 parking spaces for the 23 two-bedroom and 12 one-bedroom apartments. The apartments are due for completion in June 2019.



May 2019 Handover date for all 35 flats has been confirmed for Wednesday 5th June 2019.
December 2018

Except for a small amount of render and the railings work to the external of the block, including the brise soleil, and the flood wall is now complete.  Work is progressing well both inside the flats and externally to the rear where the car park and the landscaped areas are to be. 

August 2018 The roof is complete and the external cladding and render are nearly finished.  
June 2018 The third floor's nearly done. Now for the roof. Great views of the Cathedral as well.
March 2018

The Ship Inn Development has a new name. A name chosen by competition winner Bob, from Hereford. The name of a truly inspirational man; "Brummie Stokes Court".

January 2018 The first-floor concrete floor's now done. We've also been given the all clear for one of the names that you've suggested. Details coming real soon.
September 2017 Naming competition closed and entries submitted to the judges. This process is likely to take a few months, once chosen the winner will be notified.  
August 2017 Competition launched in association with The Courtyard Hereford to name the new apartments. To read more about the naming process click here  
August 2017 The demolition of the Ship Inn has been completed
