The Rents Team (Income Services) is responsible for the setting and collection of rent and the recovery of current and former arrears. The team consists of Rent Recovery Officers and Financial Inclusion Officers. This means we can visit you in your home if you have a rent query or arrange to meet you in one of our offices.
Members of the Rents Team (Income Services) are trained to deal with debt problems and are willing to discuss any rent account issues you may have. Officers can refer you to the local Citizens' Advice Bureau for independent debt management advice if applicable, through our dedicated referral programme.
Our service aim is to adopt a firm but fair approach to rent arrears recovery and to offer, where possible, clear and practical repayment plans. We recognise that occasionally you may have financial difficulties and are unable to pay your rent when due. If you are getting behind with your rent, we urge you to contact us as soon as possible. View more detailed information on what to do if you have difficulties in paying your rent.
Please do not to ignore your rent problems. They will not go away and ignoring them will only make the situation worse. Whilst Herefordshire Housing would not wish to take action that results in eviction, it will do so as a last resort if other attempts to recover arrears have failed.
Our Rents Team (Income Services) telephone lines are open from 8.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.45am - 4.45pm on Fridays, you can call them on 0300 777 4321.
You can make an appointment to see one of our Incomes Officers at any of our offices, between the hours of 8.45am and 5.15pm Monday - Thursday and 8.45am - 4.45pm on Fridays. We can also arrange for an officer to visit you in your home within these hours.
Contact us to arrange an appointment.
We employ three Financial Inclusion Officers who provide friendly advice to help you in all aspects of Finanical Inclusion. They can provide you with help to maxamise your income through all Welfare Benefits, provide help with budgeting and debt problems, help you access bank accounts, and potentially help you access financial support through charitable grants. They can also use their knowledge to refer you to other relevant external agencies that may be able to help you with your situation. Contact our Financial Support Officer.
You can find out how much Housing Benefit you may be entitled to by clicking on the calculator.
You can pay your rent online via Allpay.
