Lone Workers

A Lone Worker Monitoring service could help to ensure the safety of your employees. By simply programming the mobile phone of the lone worker to our control centre we can monitor their safety using our easy-to-use system.

The safety of lone workers is a complex issue and is subject to the current Health & Safety legislation.
The Health & Safety Executive stipulates that “Employers have a responsibility for the health and safety at work of their employees. It is the employers’ duty to assess risks to lone workers and take steps to avoid or control the risks where necessary.”
Herefordshire Careline’s Lone Worker Monitoring System can help.

How does our Lone Worker Monitoring System work?

  • The system utilises lone workers’ existing mobile phones. Their phones are pre-programmed with pre-set speed dials to log in and out of the system.
  • When they log into the system they are prompted to record a message about their forthcoming movements and are then asked to set a time interval for their visits/appointments to be completed.
  • If they have not logged out of the system or extended the interval before it is up, the Lone Worker System will automatically call them. The system does this three times in quick succession.
  • If by the third check call the lone worker has not answered then a call is made by our operators to the lone worker. If contact can still not be made then the operator will call the lone worker’s emergency contacts.
  • The system is operated through existing mobile phones. It is easy to use with pre-set speed dials.

What happens if I feel threatened or in danger?

The system also has an emergency feature, which is also activated by a pre-programmed speed dial. When pressed it sends an emergency call to our centre. The lone worker can then speak directly to a Herefordshire Careline operator or if the user is unable to speak then the operator can just listen to the situation and decide what action needs to be taken. This means that the lone worker can activate this function discreetly and does not have to talk to the operator, which could potentially escalate a volatile situation.

Our control centre is manned 24 hours a day by our highly trained and friendly operators.

What type of worker uses the Lone Worker system?

There are many types of worker who can benefit from our Lone Worker system. For example, home visitors such as housing officers, social care staff, Works and Pensions advisors, benefits staff, trades staff etc. In fact, any employee who works alone or in potentially vulnerable situations could benefit from the service.

What are the main benefits?

  • Easy to use - uses existing mobile phones
  • Reliable - System fully backed up with alternative control centre
  • Effective - provides 24-hour protection for your staff
  • Affordable - low charges and low set up costs
