Herefordshire Housing looks to the future

Herefordshire Housing is disappointed with the Audit Commissions’ assessment that the association is providing a “poor” service and is determined to achievement rapid improvement over the coming months.

It is almost exactly 5 years since the Association was created and has recently delivered all the capital improvements promised at transfer. Over the last 12 months, progress on achieving the Decent Homes Standard has been impressive with compliance rising from 84% to 96%.

Much progress has already been made since the inspection took place in June and a new Chief Executive, Peter Brown, started at the end of October.

Commenting upon the Audit Commission Report, Peter Brown said: “We are disappointed with the Audit Commission’s conclusions but we are keen to learn from the findings, and I will ensure that we continue to drive the business forward to improve the services that tenants deserve. Significant progress has already been made since the Inspection took place, and I am looking forward to the Audit Commission returning next year, as I am confident that we will receive a much more positive assessment.”
